Aquatic Center Replacement Strategy

The Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center is scheduled to permanently close after the
2026 season.

Did you know the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center is nearly 30 years old? A typical lifespan for an outdoor pool with water features is 15 to 35 years.

A lot has changed since 1997, when our pool first opened, and while it has been well-maintained, the facility is inefficient, leaks water, and has become increasingly expensive to operate each year.

Our pool has reached the point where repairs are no longer a financially responsible long-term solution.

Without a replacement plan, the City will need to demolish the current pool after this year’s swim season, costing taxpayers millions of dollars in removal costs.

WHAT SHOULD THE CITY DO NEXT?

The City of Chesterfield is currently working with the community to explore replacement strategies.

Last fall, residents told us through a community survey that they valued having a community space like a pool and wanted the City to explore possible replacement options for the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center.

Based on that feedback, our design team developed four concepts centered around the priorities identified in the community survey. Those concepts were presented at Open Houses in March 2026. Participants were invited to share which concept they preferred, how they would improve it, and ask any questions they still had.

That feedback was then used to develop the Preliminary Site Plan, which was approved by the Council for further study.

Now, we need you to take our community survey to help determine what happens next.
